A Rainbow in the Sky

A temporary site-specific artwork by Daniel Buren
August 8 – November 15, 2009

Internationally celebrated artist Daniel Buren returns to Pasadena with a large-scale site-specific artwork in the One Colorado Courtyard. Buren’s installation, A Rainbow in the Sky, consists of thousands of colorful striped flags suspended and hovering like an open “ceiling” overhead. The installation is free and open to the public.

The artist was inspired to revisit the One Colorado Courtyard following the critical success of his 2007 artwork A Colored Square in the Sky, which was presented in the same location.

One of France’s most famous contemporary artists, Buren is the creator of work such as the internationally acclaimed Les Colonnes de Buren sculpture (titled by Buren as Les Deux Plateaux) in the Cour d’Honneur of the Palais Royal, Paris.

A Rainbow in the Sky is presented by One Colorado, Armory Center for the Arts, and FLAX, a Los Angeles-based foundation dedicated to fostering a better understanding of France through public and cultural art events.
