Old Pasadena Film Festival
Friday and Saturday nights July 11 to 26
A district-wide film festival that happens on roof-tops, in basements, on walls, in courtyards, in shops and in theaters in Old Pasadena. All screenings will be free and open to the public. Presented in partnership with American Cinematheque.
The festival will present a wide variety of genres that reflect the outdoors urban setting of Old Pasadena alleys, courtyards and buildings. Genres include:
Emerging – student work presented with Armory Center for the Arts, Art Center College of Design and Pasadena City College, each of which has thriving and respected digital and filmmaking departments. Screenings to be held at the Armory Center for the Arts
Shorts – A selection of short films to be presented in Mercantile Alley
Classics – Presentations on the big One Colorado screen every Friday and Saturday during the festival.
Animé – Japanese-style animations screened at various locations in Old Pasadena
Music Videos – Early versions music videos projected in Mercantile Alley
Environmental – Environmental films such as Koyaanisqatsi screened various locations
Travel – Great travel films screened at Distant Lands
Golden Age of Television – Classic episodes of TV’s The Twilight Zone shown in the basement of Schoolhouse parking garage
French New Wave – Presentations of classic French cinema in Kendall Alley with Alliance Française
Science Fiction – Projection on a parking structure rooftop
Fantasy – All night screening of the complete Lord of the Rings cycle in the One Colorado Courtyard
Current Feature presentation – A newly released film shown on closing night on Holly Street
