At Home Activities to Keep You Happy and Healthy
We’re all at home for a while and we can feel the cabin fever brewing. Especially if you have a full house.
To help keep you and your crew calm, cool and entertained, we’ve put together some ideas of what to watch and read, as well as ways to avoid the couch potato blues. We included fun activities you can do with the little ones to keep them happy (and busy). And how about some scents to lighten the mood?
Here’s “What to Watch, Listen to and Cook…” compiled by The New York Times in case you find yourself betwixt and between shows or if you are tired of re-watching The Office or Game of Thrones. If you like popcorn with your streaming sessions, you can spice it up with these easy popcorn recipes.
If a good book is more your thing, Elle Magazine offered The Best Books of 2020 (So Far) for your reading pleasure. Their list seems to cover a good swath of genres. (And don’t forget that we regularly stock our own courtyard community library!)
Feeling logy and/or concerned over what Netflix has done to your metabolism? We found “The Best at-home Workout Streaming Services …” listing sites and apps for the more active and those that prefer a mellower approach to exercise. We’ve also heard Beachbody on Demand is also a good one (and rumor has it that it ain’t easy).
Are the kids’ climbing the walls? Here are 50 ways to keep them occupied with things you have around the house. And if you need to help them understand what’s going on with COVID-19, L.A. Parent offers this primer and PBS published a guide as well.
You can never go wrong with fresh-baked cookies! Sure, the sugar rush may prove problematic but that’s where Disney+ comes in handy. Click here for a good list of goodies (nice pix too).
And if you need to calm the mood, try aromatherapy. Some recommended scents are lemon (calming), lavender (soothing), jasmine (uplifting), rosemary (stimulating), cinnamon (concentration) and peppermint (energy). If you have an atomizer, great! If not, dab a few drops of your desired scented oil on a cotton ball and sniff your way to a better you.
