In the fairytale land of Andalasia, the animated Giselle (Amy Adams) lives the quintessential fairytale life; she sings and frolics with woodland animal pals and her BFF is a chipmunk named Pip. There’s also the dreamy Prince Edward (James Marsden) with whom she seeks her happily-ever-after. But the story of her Pollyanna picture-perfect world is about to flip. As Giselle goes to the castle to marry the Prince, his evil step-mother Queen Narissa (Susan Sarandon), disguised as an old hag, shoves her into a well that transports her to modern day NYC. Her princessy naiveté is thrown to the proverbial wolves of Manhattan. She ends up being taken in by Robert, a cynical lawyer (Patrick “Dr. McDreamy” Dempsey) and his six-year-old daughter Morgan. Will Giselle survive life in The Big Apple? Find fairytale or IRL love? Get home to Andalasia? Will Pip get dumped for a Central Park squirrel? Created both in homage and as a poke at Disney animated films, this comedic romantic fantasy film involves e-action filmmaking, traditional animation, and computer-generated imagery (animation sequences were produced at James Baxter Animation in our very own Pasadena). Enchanted received two Golden Globe nominations and Best Original Song at the 80th Academy Awards.
All courtyard screening start at 8:30p. We will have Silent Disco headsets available (first-come first-served), and you’ll need to turn in your Cal Driver’s License for their use (which, of course, you get back when we get our headsets back).
We are also serving up the perfect movie night trifecta – movie, drink and dinner! The Kind Sage (Friday’s) and Il Fornaio (Saturday’s) will have a pop-up bar for some pre-film libations. Il Fornaio is also offering a bene dinner deal – choice of one pizza (pepperoni or Margherita), two bags of popcorn and two cans of soda. We provide some courtyard seating, but bring along a blanket if you prefer a picnic style dinner + iPic is handing out popcorn (while supplies last).
